Coach Rivera played a key role in starting the football program from scratch in 2015. His vision of what Von Steuben football could look like one day, along with the help of other believers, eventually led to the approval of a football program at Von Steuben. As one of the founding fathers of the Panthers football program, he worked as the Defensive Coordinator while coaching middle linebackers and special teams for the first three seasons. He ascended to the position of head coach in July 2018, when the program’s first ever head coach, Alan Rood, accepted a coveted position at his Alma mater, Bishop McNamara HS. Coach Rivera credits Coach Rood as a mentor and close friend in his development as a football coach, and for laying the foundation for a perennial winning program under his guidance. 

Coach Rivera lettered in baseball and football at Lane Tech HS, graduating in 1993. He played baseball at Truman College after high school, and soon after that began coaching. His high school coaching experience in CPS spans 19 years, across multiple sports. He is also the assistant head coach of the Von Steuben baseball program. 

Coach Rivera began at Von Steuben in the fall of 2005 as a school security officer, and is currently the Dean of School Culture at Von Steuben.

Coach Nathan Quillen is one of the original coaches that began with the program in it's inaugural season in 2015. He played an important role in the development of the offense our first two seasons as an offensive assistant. In 2017, he was promoted to Offensive Coordinator with full play calling duties. Coach Nate carries a professional work ethic, comes prepared everyday, and is patient and methodical in teaching our young players how to play football within our system.

Coach Carlos Jones is entering his first year on the Panther coaching staff as Defensive Coordinator. He brings a wealth of coaching experience, most recently serving as Head Football Coach at Senn High School in 2019. Coach Jones played at Stebbins HS in Riverside, Ohio and played Wide Receiver at Concordia Chicago.

Coach William Altman joined the coaching staff in 2018 as the JV offensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach. In 2019 he will be the JV Head Coach, while coaching the offensive line and outside linebackers. Coach Altman has coached all positions at some point in his coaching career. He played 4 years of high school football at Streamwood High School and Burlington Central High school.
